What the . . . .

Have you ever seen a squash racquette and squash ball this big?? Darcy was playing in his club championship squash tournament last weekend and the boys had gone down to watch him play. Darcy actually found out the previous Monday that he had a stress fracture in his arm and the doctor wanted to cast it but Darcy said "No, I have an important tournament to play in!" Silly boy! So he played the squash tournament with a broken arm and now needs to take a lot of time off in order for his arm to heal. Oh, but he just remember that softball season starts this week. No more sports until the arm heals honey! (Not that I can tell him what to do or what not to do:))

Spring or Winter?

Which one of these things does not belong here? Tell me which one! Is it spring or is it winter? Jordan is a little confused about what season it really is. I keep asking myself the same question. One day we are out riding our bikes with no coats on at 7:30 in the evening (20 degree weather) and two days later we have a foot of snow in our yard and it is -15 outside. What is with this weather? Darcy spent one evening getting the kids bikes are geared up to ride. We took the dog for a walk while the kids tried out their bikes. It was a beautiful evening - and then the snow came and kept coming. We don't know if we will ever see spring weather let alone summer weather.

April Snow Showers

April Snow Showers

Yes this picture was taken today - April 10, 2008. After spending the last few days raking the lawn and playing outside in the backyard, we woke up to about a foot of heavy thick wet snow. The older kids were all groaning and complaining about it. It took us 45 minutes to get the kids to school (it usually only takes about 12 minutes). When we got home Jordan wanted to build a snowman and since it was such perfect snowman making snow I couldn't say no. We went outside and started building a snow giant! Jordan wanted a white snowman, not one with grass on it so we used all the snow from the driveway to build this one. Even after we finished building the snowman it still took me about 15 or 20 minutes to finish shoveling the driveway. Jordan was proud of his snow giant. At least somebody enjoys snow in April!

Crazy Sleeper

So Darcy and I went up to bed last night and I burst out laughing as I passed Sadie's room! This is how she was sleeping - if you can believe it. She was fast asleep and it didn't even bother her that all of her blood was running to her head! When I showed her the picture in the morning she wouldn't believe that she was actually sleeping like that. She said "Mom I know you put me like that just to take my picture!" Why would I do that to you Sadie?? Kids are truly amazing with some of the things they do while they are sleeping.

Look Mom . . . We're twins!

Jordan loves his cousin Cody! They were so excited when they came downstairs one day and had matching shirts on. I sat them down and took a picture of them. Then they said "Mom, we even have the same undies on!" and they whipped down their pants to show me. They wanted a picture of their twin blue camo underwear! Boys will be Boys!

Catchin Up

OK - so I know it has been a long time since I last updated my blog. In fact, it was so long ago that I couldn't even remember my blog's name or my password to get into it. Pretty sad hey? I am going to try to rededicate myself to blogging on a more regular basis. So far the year 2008 is flying by.

In January we got ourselves a hot tub and we LOVE IT! We got it the day before it turned freezing cold (minus 45) and by the time it was warm enough to get in, the weather was so cold they cancelled school. I let the kids get in but they had to wear their hats to keep their heads warm. It was crazy! Darcy and I get in every night before bed and we both sleep so great after soaking in the hot tub.

In February I managed a little get away down to California (with no kids!). It was really nice to catch up with my friends down there. I have to admit coming home to winter weather here in Calgary was not so fun!

We have celebrated Carson's 11th birthday and Sadie's 6th birthday in the last month and of course had a visit from the Easter bunny. Now we are ready for spring/summer to be here. Jordan wants to wear shorts every day and it is a daily battle to get him to put pants on. That kid needs to live somewhere where it is warm all year round.
