Jordan's 10th Birthday

Most summers Jordan's birthday rolls around when we are at the cabin.  This year was no exception except that it was the best birthday at the cabin ever because he had his best buddy Grant with him for the week as well as his best cousin Cody!  Of course we can't forget his favourite brother either.

We had a glow stick and sparkler dance party on the dock.

Later on when we were back in Calgary Jordan and his friend William (who are only 1 week apart in age) had a joint birthday party with Grant and Adam and they went mini golfing and had donuts for a birthday cake.  What a fun group of boys.

Happy 8th Birthday JJ

My Baby is 8!
He had a great Birthday Party with a bunch of his friends and 3 of his cousins (Cody, Weston and Carter).  Percy Jackson is his favourite thing right now and so they all went to camp half blood (the park) where Carson trained them how to fight with their swords and shields as well as training on the obstacles course.  Easy party for me and so fun for the boys!

 It's Great to be 8!

Jordan was baptized on July 22, 2012.  He was so excited for this special day.  He was lucky enough to  have the entire extended Gibb family at his baptism.  Sonya's family was here from Utah and Brandon and Candice even drove up just for the afternoon to attend his baptism.  Boy we have a great family!  Jordan we are so proud of you!  You are a great kid!

Happy 7th Birthday Jordan

Because Jordan's birthday is in July nobody, including us, is around for his party so we had a party with all of his friends just before school ended. Since Jordan got to go to the real live Angels baseball game with his dad while we were in California he has really been into baseball. He loves to go to the park and catch pop fly balls with his dad. A baseball party it was!

Whenever anybody asked him what he wanted for his birthday he would say "mini hockey goalie stick so. . .
He got about a dozen mini sticks. Everybody got him exactly what he wanted. Now we have enough mini sticks for the whole block to play hockey with Jordan.

His actual birthday is on July 18th and we were at the cabin with all of his cousins. His birthday presents were back at home and so he had to wait until we got home a week after his birthday. He was just dying to get home and see his presents. What do you get a kid who really doesn't play with toys much but is passionate about all kinds of sports . . . . . ?

A full set of football gear! Carson was so excited for Jordan to see his presents. Football pants with the padding and all, shoulder pads, a practice jersey, a "real" helmet and of course the beloved mouth guard. We could have started and stopped at the mouth guard and Jordan probably would have been happy. He has wanted a mouth guard that fit his mouth for over a year. Apparently that is what makes you a real football player oh and don't forget the gloves.

Here he is in all his glory ready to play some "real" football.
Ready. . . Dowwwwwn . . . set . . . hut hut hut! What a kid! Happy Birthday buddy!

March - The Whirlwind Month

This month has flown by for me as I have been jet setting all over the place. The first week and a half of March I was in Hawaii with my sisters and my parents. We had a great time sight seeing, hanging out and relaxing together. When I came home (for 6 days) Sadie had her 9th birthday and of course a party to go with it. Then Darcy and I left for Arizona because we had tickets to the March Madness basketball games. I had gotten sick right before we left and spent my time in Arizona coughing and keeping Darcy up all night long. The warm weather was nice and we had a good time despite the lack of good sleep.

While we were in Arizona the kids were staying at my parents house. Jordan was obsessed with catching a Leprechaun on St. Patrick's Day and he got Grandpa on board. Together they made a leprechaun trap but they didn't manage to catch one. I actually caught one while I was in Arizona and got a picture of him on my phone. I will post it when I get it off my phone.

After we got home Carson had a birthday and turned 14! I can't believe I have a 14-year-old. I am not possibly old enough for that! We finally gave in and bought him a cell phone. He has been the only kid in his grade without a cell phone. So hard done by I know! Just for the records we didn't buy it out or peer pressure but because he is getting to the stage where I need to be able to keep in contact with him with all of his sport activities etc. We came home to a week of snowy weather here in Calgary (why do we live here again?). Hopefully spring is around the corner because after seeing so much sun this month it is hard to be back in the middle of winter.

Sadie's 9th Birthday

Sadie turned 9 this month! She decided to have a Hawaiian birthday party this year which was fitting since I had just been in Hawaii the week before her birthday. She just had a handful of friends come over to celebrate the day!

Of course we had to have pinia coladas to drink!
And a Hawaiian beach cake was in order!
Happy Birthday Sadie! You are really growing up fast!

Kailey's 12th Birthday

Kailey turned 12 on December 22, 2010. She is officially a Young Woman at church and is very excited to be graduated from Primary. It has been a long year for her as she is the last one in her class to move on to Young Womens. For her birthday we spent the day with all of her cousins going to Village Square Leisure Center and then out for Chinese Food with the whole Family. Of course we had birthday cake afterwards. Happy Birthday Kailey!

Happy Birthday Jordan

Happy 6th Birthday Jordan! The chosen theme for this years party was football training camp. Does that surprise anybody who knows Jordan?? I must admit I didn't love being pregnant in the heat and having a summer baby but the nice weather comes in handy for birthday parties with lots of boys!
The boys checking in for training camp.

Cody and Weston (JJ's cousins).
Jordan was so excited to have Weston here for his birthday
party because Weston lives in Utah.

JJ and his buddy Drew

And last but not least the coaches! Boy do I love having big kids around to run the party! Carson and Dallin did a great job with the kids.

Sadie's Special Day

Saturday March 27, 2010 Sadie was baptized! It was an exciting day for her as she had waited 2 weeks since her 8th birthday to be baptized. We had to wait for Grandma and Grandpa to get home from their cruise so they could be at the baptism.

What a beautiful girl!

Sadie and her friends (Robyn, Sadie, Jaden, Lauren, and Nadia)

All dressed in white!

Uncle Justin was really excited to baptize Sadie.

The Amazing Mall Race

Finally 2 months after Kailey's actual birthday we got around to having her party with her friends. We did an Amazing Mall Race and the girls had an absolute blast. There were 2 teams of 3 girls. Kailey had Hannah (left) and Tara (middle) on her team. The first thing they did when we arrived at the mall was grab a map and start studying it.

When the other team arrived we gave them finally instructions and off they went
to complete the first leg of the race.

One of the road blocks they encountered was counting all the steps on the escalator. It took them quite a while to figure out how to do this. Guess how many steps there are on the escalator?

Kailey's team leaving Williams Sonoma after price checking a few items and getting the next leg of the race handed to them by one of the workers in the store. The other team is still in the background watching Kailey's team head out of the store.

You want us to do WHAT???? Another road block was to count all of the free standing tables in the food court. Guess how many tables there are in the Chinnook Center Food Court? It took Carson and I quite awhile to make sure we had the correct final count - 334 tables!

It was a really fun party and it kept a group of 11 year old girls completely occupied for 2 1/2 hours. Afterwards we headed home for some cake and ice cream.

Happy Birthday Kailey

With Kailey's Birthday being on December 22 we always try to not let it get lost in the Christmas hustle and bustle. Grandma, Kailey, MacKenzie (her friend from basketball), and I went for lunch at Montana's. The best part is when they make the birthday girl wear the moose head and sing happy birthday to her. Kailey also likes the 3 mini ice cream cones. Kailey turned 11 this year - I can't believe how quickly she is growing up. She is so quick witted and hilarious to have around. She gives her dad a run for his money when it comes to the family prankster. She is also a little business lady. She has started her own business www.chickcharms.blogspot.com and has taken her school by storm selling these adorable necklaces that she makes and customizes for people.

Cake Boss Carson

So Carson's favorite show on TV is Cake Boss. He became obsessive about cake decorating and was bound and determined to make a cake for Jordan's birthday. We had to make the fondant and everything. Of course when your child decides to learn something like this the mother gets to learn right along beside them so away we went.

We figured out how to make marshmellow fondant. Boy was it messy! On the positive side it was really cheap to make compared to the fondant you can buy at Michaels. We must have made about 4 batches of the messy stuff.

Of course anytime we are busy in the kitchen JJ thinks his job is to be perched up on the island to sample everything. He was more of a mess than I was with fondant all over himself.

The next day Candice and Brandon were here and Candice was so kind as to guide Carson in rolling the fondant for the cake. Thanks goodness for an aunt who loves to cake decorate too! We were already about 3 days into this drawn out process from baking the cakes from scratch (we couldn't just use a boxed cake mix) to actually decorating the cakes.

Voila! The final product. He made it for Callie who is turning 8, Jordan who is turning 5 and Dallin who is turning 10. They all celebrate their birthdays this summer so we had one big party for all of them. Not bad for a first try at becoming the "cake boss"!

A Pirate's Life for Me

We celebrated Jordan's birthday at the end of June so all of his friends would be around for his birthday party. We had a beautiful day and were able to do the whole party outside. (That is very rare in Calgary!) The boys had a swashbuckling good time!

They were entertained by Captain Jack Sparrow (Carson) and he did a great job playing all kinds of games with them. This was called "Bomb the Enemy Ship" and they had to throw baseballs through the holes in the ship.

This was "Walk the Plank" while sword fighting with Captain Sparrow. The boys thought this was great fun!

Jordan opening presents with his friend Ethan by his side.

This was the best game of all. Bomb Jack Sparrow. They had squishy balls soaked in water and Jack Sparrow ran around the yard while they tried to soak him with their water balls. This game could have gone on all day.

JJ totally enjoying his roll as "Captain JJ"

Of course it wouldn't be a pirate party without a treasure hunt with a treasure chest full of loot for the boys. They enjoyed dressing up like pirates and fighting with their swords.

What time is it Jack Sparrow? - Abandon Ship! This was so cute to watch them play.

Here they are all dressed up in their pirate garb. Ahoy Matey! It was a great Party!
