Summer Time - Our Favorite

We spent as much time as we could at the cabin this summer and as usual found a few new things to do.

The boys transformed the front deck of the cabin into a basketball court and spent many hours having basketball tournaments with all the kids.  Even Sadie played and she managed to win some games.  They all had a blast playing basketball at the cabin.

Another thing the boys enjoyed doing was playing Poker.  Uncle Jeff taught them how to play poker and they really got into it.  It would crack me up when I hear the little boys announce, "Poker in 10 minutes . . . be there!"  We would wake up and they would be playing poker outside waiting for everybody else to get up.

Boys will be boys!  They were out hunting squirrels one afternoon.

One of my favourite things this year was watching the moon come up.  We happened to have two full moons this year while we were at the cabin. It is amazing how quickly it rises over the mountain and how much it lights the lake up.

This was the last summer that Carson will get to spend a significant amount of time at the cabin.  After he graduates next year it will be time to work full time and earn money for college and a mission.  He tried to soak in everything at the cabin this year.

All of the Gibb grandchildren enjoyed a day together at the cabin.
There are 2 more on the way!  What a group of crazy kids!

Jordan learned to ski on one ski this summer.

Even though we find a few new things to do every year we still love the old things the best.  We can't ever leave out cliff jumping.  By the end of the summer those cliffs were high!!

Buckets, Boys and Basketball

While it was flooding in Calgary, and we are talking major disaster flooding, we got to go to Utah for Carson's basketball team.  It was 40 degrees Celsius in Utah and the only way to stay cool was to be in water outside.  It didn't take the boys long to figure out how to stay cool!

All that is required is a few buckets filled with hose water.
And if you want to prevent sunburn you just put the lids on!

peek a boo!!

Nothing better than playing in the sun with cousins.
Carter, Jordan, and Weston

Jordan just loves doing tricks on the trampoline these days.

When the buckets got boring the boys rigged up their own water slides.

Meanwhile Carson was playing in a basketball tournament with his Genesis club team.  They only had 7 players there and they ended up playing 5 games in a 25 hour period.  It was a little crazy but they had fun.  Carson took a terrible fall in the last game where he was going up for a layup and 2 guys took his legs out from under him.  He fell backwards really hard with no hands or anything to help cushion the fall.  The sound of the bang of his head on the floor was just sickening.  I am usually pretty calm and collective when my kids get injured but I have to admit that I jumped out of my seat when his head landed on the floor and he didn't move right away.  He finally came to and the first thing out of his mouth was "Did I make the layup?"  Of course they called the foul but wouldn't let him take his foul shots because he had to be checked out for a concussion.  One of his teammates took the foul shots while the doctors checked Carson.  They wouldn't let him play the rest of that half of the game.

These pictures are not from the tournament in Utah because I forgot to take my camera to the games.  These are a few pics from their league games at SAIT.
Genesis motto is DO WORK!  The emphasize doing work in family, school and on the court.  Carson loves to DO WORK with the Genesis team!

Holding on to Summer

So this spring our yard went through a small make over.  Who am I kidding?  It was a HUGE make over!

It went from this . . . .

To This!

We bit the bullet, opened up the bank account and splurged!  So far it has been well worth it!  It doesn't get better than a beautiful summer afternoon watching the kids play together on the sport  court!  Ok, not just the kids - the dad too!

Carson is fair competition for Darcy these days!  It is a pretty even game!  I guess it is every dad's dream to have their son become good competition at whatever they like to play.

A little one on one competition between Kailey and Jordan only makes Jordan a better ball player!

While 3 kids play on the sport court . . . .

Sadie practices her dancing, jumps, and pointing her toes!
Black Jack enjoys what lush grass we have left as most of it disappeared when the sport court arrived.  We are trying to enjoy every last day of summer because we know eventually the seasons change and winter will be upon us.  For now we will enjoy the beautiful weather we have had this summer!

Best Pictures of the Summer!

We have a bald eagle that lives just down the lake from our cabin.  One morning while we were pulling the kids skiing we saw it fly down the lake, swoop up and land on the very top of a tree.  I had to get a good picture of this handsome bird and so I did!  They are so neat to look at!

I loved this picture of Carson in the middle of a front flip off the dock.

And of course the flying lesson mastered!  David and Carson planking the lake together!

Boys and Their Tricks

Boys and their tricks!  Jordan has figured out how to do a back flip and now he back flips off of everything.  Here he is in action!

Of course Carson can do it to!

Carson really thinks he can fly. He has been practicing really hard all summer!

Even without his wings he flies like Superman!

Now he is trying to spiral around while he flies.

And now flying Lessons for David.
The Pep talk and the plan . . .

the take off . . .

 and the flying!
Just call them Batman and Robyn!

 "Those Crazy Boys!" says Kailey
