Soccer Season 2014

Jordan loves soccer season even if it is a bit cold and often times rainy in Calgary.  He had 6 Mormon boys on his team this year and they were really good!  They won the gold medal this year again (for about the fifth season in a row).

Jordan is an intense player and is really starting to see the field well.  He is always looking for a pass inside to his teammates but he also knows when to try and score himself.

His teammates love it when he plays goalie because it is the only time they feel like the goal is really being protected well.  Jordan usually plays half of the game as goalie and enjoys the challenge and the pressure of that position.

This is probably the last year that JJ and his best buddy Grant will play soccer together.  We found out half way through the season that Grant will be moving to Denver.  JJ was crushed and tears rolled down his cheeks when I told him the sad news.  For now they enjoy every minute they get to play together.

It's Soccer Time Again!

We have had a lot of rainy soccer games so the camera hasn't been to many games this year.  Our nicest games were the first few of the season. Jordan's little team is quite fun to watch. We have 5 kids from his primary class at church all on his team and they play very well together.

JJ is enjoying playing goalie this year, although most games we have pretty good defence and so he gets a little bit bored!  Here he is trying to increase his vertical while the action is happening down at the other end of the field!

The ball finally comes down to our end and he gets a great kick off!  I wish I was that flexible!

Of course Black Jack loves soccer games because he gets to play his favourite sport on the side lines!

Grant is like my other little boy on the team so I take some pics of him too!  Jordan and Grant are a great little team and they pass the ball really well to each other.  They have both had some sweet assists to each other this season.  This is Grant with a quick pull back move!

Soccer Season Again!

Jordan is always so excited for Soccer Season!  He has another dynamite team this year.  They are undefeated so far this year (I thought we weren't supposed to keep score :))  Of course the parents don't keep score but the kids know exactly what the score is and who scored every goal.  No matter what you do you can't take the competition away from competitive kids.  So far his personal best is 8 goals in one game. 

 Jordan and his best buddy Grant are quite the team together.  They are really getting the hang of playing as a team and passing the ball to each other.  Between the 2 of them they score about 80% of the goals in each game.  They crack me up and it is so fun to watch them play together.

We're #1

Despite the cold rainy soccer season we had here in Calgary the season was a success for the "silver backs". Jordan and his best buddy Grant, led their team to an undefeated season. (Thanks to the great coaches as well!)

What a season! Jordan was so proud to bring home his gold medal. When he walked in the back door he started singing at the top of his lungs "We are the Champions - no time for losers!" No this kid of ours is not competitive at all.

Soccer Time for JJ

It is always so fun to watch the kids compete at any level. Jordan loves playing soccer.

The other day he was telling Uncle Justin that his jersey was black and his number was 12. Justin asked him if that was his favorite number and Jordan said "No, I really wanted number 16". Justin asked why and JJ said "because that is when you get your driver's license and I really want my driver's license." He cracks us up!

Not only does he score but then he runs down to the other end of the field and dives to save the ball from going in his goal. This was the save that he talked all day about. What a kid!

Wrapping up the School Year

Well the school year is coming to an end (yahoo!) and we have been busy wrapping up another great year. Jordan has enjoyed playing soccer this year. One of the highlights was the Saturday he got to have his best buddy (and cousin) Cody play on his team. We were watching Cody for the weekend and because he was missing his own soccer game Jordan's AWESOME COACH (his daddy) let Cody play on Jordan's team. It was the most fun I have had in a long time watching 4-year-olds play soccer. These two crack me up. They were a mean green team that is for sure!

This was the famous chest bump cheer when they did something awesome they would run up to each other and jump up to bang chests and then some high fiving would follow! HILARIOUS TO WATCH!

It is amazing that even at such a young age these two have great team work.




This is Cody in Action! If you have ever watched 4-year-olds play soccer there is not much passing going on. It is usually each man for himself . . . .

But Cody and Jordan were passing back and forth and made a few great plays. They were always looking for each other on the field and it was fun to watch them.

WHAT A TEAM!

Then there was sports day. This is Kailey (in the white shirt) and her best buddies Tara (purple shirt) and Katie (blue shirt). (Tara and Kailey get mistaken for the each other quite a bit thus I had to point out the shirt colors.) For these girls it is all about the matching outfits or bandanas etc. They get to go to middle school next year and are really excited about this. Look out Springbank Middle School here comes TRIPPLE TROUBLE!

JJ got a new bike as an early birthday present. You should see him go! It is all about the reving engine on the handlebars of this bike. It gives him super power to ride even faster!


We are looking forward to a fun summer and hope that it doesn't go by too quickly. The yard work is always present but I don't complain because I love my garden. Darcy has got the landscaping finally completed (4 years since we moved into this house) and it looks awesome.
