Happy 7th Birthday Jordan

Because Jordan's birthday is in July nobody, including us, is around for his party so we had a party with all of his friends just before school ended. Since Jordan got to go to the real live Angels baseball game with his dad while we were in California he has really been into baseball. He loves to go to the park and catch pop fly balls with his dad. A baseball party it was!

Whenever anybody asked him what he wanted for his birthday he would say "mini hockey goalie stick so. . .
He got about a dozen mini sticks. Everybody got him exactly what he wanted. Now we have enough mini sticks for the whole block to play hockey with Jordan.

His actual birthday is on July 18th and we were at the cabin with all of his cousins. His birthday presents were back at home and so he had to wait until we got home a week after his birthday. He was just dying to get home and see his presents. What do you get a kid who really doesn't play with toys much but is passionate about all kinds of sports . . . . . ?

A full set of football gear! Carson was so excited for Jordan to see his presents. Football pants with the padding and all, shoulder pads, a practice jersey, a "real" helmet and of course the beloved mouth guard. We could have started and stopped at the mouth guard and Jordan probably would have been happy. He has wanted a mouth guard that fit his mouth for over a year. Apparently that is what makes you a real football player oh and don't forget the gloves.

Here he is in all his glory ready to play some "real" football.
Ready. . . Dowwwwwn . . . set . . . hut hut hut! What a kid! Happy Birthday buddy!

Off to Spokane for some Bball

So the day after school was done, we headed down to Spokane for Carson's basketball tournament. He played spring ball for the Foundations Club Team.

Here are a few actions shots throughout the season.
Takin it to the hoop!

An outside shot.

To the Hoop again. Love the way all the blue team are standing there watching his moves. The only guy trying to play defence is the guy that is guarding Carson.

Another outside Shot.

These next two are not the greatest pictures. (The lighting in the gym was awful) but Carson kind of liked them. This one is him driving to the hoop and dishing it last minute to his teammate under the basket.

This was just one big foul as Carson was on the fast break.
One more shot from outside with the other coaching yelling
"Don't let that #4 shoot!
Now its time for a summer break before school starts and basketball starts for another season.

We're #1

Despite the cold rainy soccer season we had here in Calgary the season was a success for the "silver backs". Jordan and his best buddy Grant, led their team to an undefeated season. (Thanks to the great coaches as well!)
JJ in action trying to save the ball.
The "Eye of the Tiger" we call it. Nobody is going to get to that ball before Jordan!

One final hard kick (who cares if the girl's face is just about touching the ball).
And the victory run back to get the high five from the coaches!
What a season! Jordan was so proud to bring home his gold medal. When he walked in the back door he started singing at the top of his lungs "We are the Champions - no time for losers!" No this kid of ours is not competitive at all.

End of Another School Year

The end of another school year. Exams are done and awards have been given out. Kailey got the academic award this year. Way to go Kailey - and she does it all in 100% French. We are so proud of you! (The boy next to Kailey has had a crush on her since Kindergarten. Had to get him in the picture too :)

Sadie got a dozen pink roses after her final dance performance of the year.

Carson was awarded Athlete of the Year for his last year at Springbank Middle School. His best buddy Jake was given the Sportsmanship Award. These two are quite the team! They have played an awful lot of basketball together over the years!

Carson had his Grade 8 Grad and had a blast with all of his classmates during their masquerade ball. Now it is off to a new school for Carson next year and he will be making new friends and have new teammates.
