Defying Gravity

Enough Said!
So much of our fun at the cabin seems to entail trying to fight gravity but boy it sure is fun!

Not Bad for an old man Justin.

JJ Running on water.
He also jumped off the biggest cliff this year. I can't believe he did it.

Carson and Camille getting some air!

Chair jumping kept us entertained for an afternoon.

And if you can't defy gravity by yourself then you just ask for a little help from Grandpa.

Cuteness!

This is my favorite picture of the summer! Carson's main squeeze these days is his little cousin Mylee. Mylee loves Carson and he treats her so good. She is our little sassifrass!

Mylee loves Black Jack. She takes really good care of him and is always reminding me that he needs yum yums or that he needs to go outside.

Work it girl!

Foot Surgery

Darcy's time at the cabin was not so fun this year. He finally had a long awaited foot surgery on his toe. They put in an artificial joint and he has to stay off of his foot for 6 weeks. If you know Darcy he does not like to stay sitting for very long and it has been hard for him to stay off of his foot. He spent his time at the cabin recovering from surgery and watching the kids do all of their activities. He was a good boat driver but that was about all he could do.
These pictures were taken almost 1 week post op. A lot of the swelling had gone down by this point.

"What is wrong with my master and why is he not playing with me?"

JJ's Birthday Hat and the Glow Sticks

Jordan seems to spend his real birthday at the cabin most years. This year Carson made him a really cool birthday hat! He wore it most of the day and didn't want anybody else to touch it.

We have a tradition at the cabin that we started many years ago. The kids get to stay up extra late so it is dark and then we break open the glow sticks. The music begins and the party starts. This year I took a few pics of the kids dancing with their glow sticks.

Rain Rain Go Away

Our time at the cabin in July consisted of rain, rain, and more rain. I guess a rainy day at the cabin is always better than a rainy day at home. The kids actually kept themselves quite entertained even though the weather was not great.
We were sure grateful for a warm fire in the cabin. The kids did swim almost every day but then they would hurry upstairs to get their PJ's on and sit by the fire. It is a real cozy feeling to hear the rain beating down on the tin roof and watching the fire crackle in the living room.
We were entertained by Carson and David Hudson on their ukeleles. It was fun to sit around and listen to them jam on their instruments.

Of course lots of games were played. This year the favorites were "go fish", "Monopoly deal" and "Bonanaza".
Even though the weather didn't cooperate we still had a great time spending time with the family.

Look Out Tony Hawk! There's a New Kid in Town!

So Jordan's latest craze this week has been skateboarding. It doesn't help when he loves to watch the X-games on TV. Those GUYS are crazy! Jordan has no fear and it makes ME crazy! He begged and begged to go to the skateboard park. Finally we took him thinking he would realize how scary it is and how crazy those kids are and he wouldn't want to go back. No such luck! He just woke up the next morning begging to go again and again the next day. I might be spending a few hours a day at the skateboard park from now until the snow flies (not that I want the snow to come any time soon).

So today I took Jordan and his buddy Grant over to the skateboard park and they played around on the little ramps and stuff. Grant thought it was pretty cool. . . . until Jordan says "Come on, lets go give the half pipe a try!" It is an art for a little guy to get up to the top of the ramp. First you run up and throw your board on the top ledge and slide down and then the second time you run up and throw yourself on it!

Grant followed Jordan up the ramp and then they stood there for a bit. I hear Grant say "Are you really going to do this Jordan?" I wait to hear Jordan's response.

"Oh yeah baby . . . let's do this thing!" No fear! I get the camera ready just in case he really does do it. Grant tosses his board down and slides down the ramp on his butt to watch Jordan kill himself from a distance.

Once he gets his board in place he eyes up the ramp and takes a big deep breath . . . .
(don't forget to stick out your tongue because that's what Weston boys do when they are concentrating!)

I'm thinking to myself "he is really going to do this!!"
And off he goes - just like that!

Look out Tony Hawk - there's a new kid in town and he has NO FEAR!
