Just A Good Laugh!

So I had misplaced the cable to download stuff from an older camera in the house and I finally found it. I took this camera (which Jordan has made his own and has been busy taking all kinds of pictures and video on) and when I downloaded everything and came across this video it made me laugh. Oh my boys! They do make me laugh all the time!

More March Madness

Carson had a really successful basketball season at St. Joan of Arc. They played a lot of basketball this season. They played in 5 tournaments and then had all of their league games. Carson was awarded an MVP at each tournament they played in and got the All Star award at the Bishop Carroll Tournament. His personal best game was when he scored 32 points and shut the other team's best player down to only 5 points. After the game he was informed by his coach that he had beat the school record of high scorer with 32 points and even more impressive was that it was in a real tough game against one of the Div 1 schools that had beaten them in a previous game. They won that game by 10 points. Unfortunately Darcy and I missed that game while we were on our cruise at the end of January. His principal was keeping stats on Carson so that he could report to us how he played while we were gone. In the easier games Carson would assist the other players on his team so they could score. Carson's coach continually looked for him to be the leader of the team whether it was "go out there and score or go out there and help your teammates score". Mr. Brosseau would always tell us how impressed he was with Carson and his ability to make others look good but could pull out his "A" game when he needed to.
The Cavs played in the City Championship on March 14 (Sadie's birthday). Carson had a rough day the day before the game and put himself to bed at 8:30 that night. He was determined to bring home the banner for St. Joan and he went out on the court and did just that.

He scored 22 points including 4 - 3 point shots!

Once again Mr. McFarland presented Carson with a gold medal and thanked him for coming to St. Joan.

Because Carson was the captain of the team he got to bring home the banner to have for a night before they hung it up in the gym.
Jordan can't wait to be a Cavalier bringing home the gold!
"That is just the way we do it at our castle!"

March Madness

Hooray for March Madness! We have our own March Madness that goes on around the Weston home. We play basketball and more basketball! Sadie is our favorite cheerleader and does such a great job of cheering for Carson and Kailey and the Calwest teams.

Kailey warming up for her city final game. Because of her ankle injury during her school city final she was unable to help her community team out during playoffs. They managed to get themselves to the city final (thanks to some great coaching :) and Kailey finally felt like she could play on her ankle.
The girls ended up loosing this game by 2 points in over time. A REALLY tough loss for them because it also ended their chance for going to Provincials.

Darcy and Mike did a great job coaching these girls and they had a great season.

The same day we watched Carson's team play in the city finals as well. Our team took the first quarter of the game to get warmed up and then Carson lit it up scoring 15 points (4 of which were 3 point shots) and the whole teamed played well defeating Nose Creek by 11 points to win the Gold!

Darcy and his assistant coach did an amazing job with this great group of boys and he was so happy for them to bring home the Gold. Carson had woken up that morning and said "Mom, I am not bringing home another silver medal because silver means you had to loose to get it." Of all the years Carson has played basketball (this is his last one with Calwest Community Ball) he has never won the gold and has always come home with a silver medal. Not this year!!

Then it was off to Provincials in Edmonton! We ended up loosing in the semi finals to the same Calgary team we beat in the City finals. We didn't have our best game but the boys played their hearts out for the bronze medal. Carson found himself at the foul line with 2 seconds left in the game and they were down by 1 point. He now had the chance to win it for his team! I was laughing from the sidelines because just the week before he had taken his learners drivers license and was telling me that he would rather be at the foul line in a tied bball game with 2 seconds left than take that stupid test again. Here he was - - at the foul line with 2 seconds left. He put the first shot in making it a tied game and then his second shot bounced off the rim. They found themselves in over time. We ended up winning with a nice 3 point shot after a long hard game. Bronze it is.

Carson and his dad at the end of a great Calwest season but he won't get rid of Darcy as a coach that quickly. Darcy will actually be coaching 6 of these boys next year when they play together in High School.
These boys had so much fun together and as I was taking this picture Stephan decided that the coach needed a reward for being so great. Out came the water bottle!
