I Wanna Be a Cavalier Takes the Talent Show by Storm!

And the winner is . . . . . I Want to Be a Cavalier!

So Carson's teachers were begging him to play his Ukelele in the talent show at school.  Back in September Carson and his friend Sean started making up this song about wanting to be a Cavalier.  They never told anybody about it and never really finished writing it.  Only the junior high kids were allowed to participate in the talent show but Carson told the drama teacher that he would only perform if it could be a surprise for everybody.  (Everybody else had to try out to perform in the show).  I guess the teachers trusted Carson enough to put together a good performance.  The day of the talent show Jordan was on a field trip downtown at the Epcore Centre.  Carson and Sean really wanted him to come and perform with them at the talent show and so I ran downtown in the middle of the day to get Jordan and then raced back to St. Joan of Arc so he could perform.

Of course my video camera started acting up just as Carson started performing.  Mom grabbed her phone to catch what she could on video but they were half way through the performance and of course sitting at the back of the gym the iPhone didn't do a great job of videoing.  The lead up to what this video shows is Carson and Sean on stage wearing their volleyball jerseys.  The song talks about wanting to be a Cavalier so very bad, signing all the banners that they have.  Playing a different school every week and they don't cheat.  "Those schools better prepare for when I'm a Cavalier".  Sean sings and then Carson starts rapping a bit about being MVP and Captain of the teams, winning all their games etc.  Sean joins in and then Jordan comes up on stage wearing Carson's basketball jersey (which was a dress on him) and steals the show!

Jordan is so excited to be a Cavalier and the teachers thought it was so cute to have Carson and Sean as out going Cavaliers and then Jordan rap it up as an incoming Cavalier.  Those schools better prepare for when Jordan is a Cavalier!  Needless to say they won the whole talent show and the crowds went wild!!

Dance Lessons

So I was going through my computer deleting some stuff and came across another funny video.  It is of Sadie and Carson dancing to her Sailor dance.  I think she is trying to teach it to Carson and he is following along.

Sadie definitely wins this dance competition.  I tell Sadie that the rest of us wish we could dance like her but we have to play basketball instead because we aren't graceful enough to be dancers.  This movie is evidence of that.

Soccer with the Big Boys!

Jordan got asked to play up on the U10 soccer team for a tournament last Saturday.  He was excited about it but a little nervous to play against kids 2 years older than him.  He played well and didn't look out of place at all.  He was asked to play goalie during the second game.  The nets are much bigger in U10 as are the fields.  He made some good saves and let a few balls in.  Nonetheless he had a great time playing with a different team.  The game just keeps getting more competitive the older these kids get and it is fun to watch.

Congratulations to Carson!  He was honoured to receive Athlete of the Year for Grade 9 at St. Joan of Arc at their year end Athletic Banquet.  He also received MVP for both volleyball and basketball teams.

Carson with his principal, Mr. McFarland.
This man will always be held in high esteem in Carson's books!

Carson with his coaches - Mr. Rankin (top left) volleyball coach and sports performance coach, Mr. Black (bottom left) Flag Football defence and science teacher, Mr. McNeil (top right) flag football and social studies teacher, and of course Mr. Brosseau (bottom right) who coached Carson on the basketball court, on the flag football field, in Math Class and in life!  A bunch of great teachers in Carson's books!

 Carson and his proud papa!

It has been a year to remember at St. Joan of Arc.  Not just because they won City Championships in every sport but because of the great people Carson got to know and the friendships he made that will last a lifetime.  He had so many teachers that truly made a difference in Carson's life!
