The pyramid on skiis is a long lived tradition that goes way back. It seems every generation has to try it more than once. Even I climbed the pyramid back in the day! This generation made it look way too easy. David Hudson, Benson Ehlert, and Carson popped up first try!
The first step is to find a boat strong enough to pull 3 skiers up at once. This used to be a real challenge back in the day but now it is not a problem!
So they all get up on 2 skis and then the middle guy (Benson) drops a ski and stands on the back of Carson's ski. Then Benson drops his second ski, hands his rope to Carson and steps up on David's lap.
Then up on the shoulders he goes. This is the hardest for David as he has to hold on to the rope with one hand as he holds Carson close with his other hand and Benson is putting most of his weight on David at this point.
Carson hands Benson his rope back and then Benson pauses to take a look at the camera and all the fans in the boat before he stands up tall. He knows he's got this. It is easy from here! (meanwhile David and Carson are struggling to stay close together under Benson's weight).
A quick wave to all the viewers from the cabins and enjoying the glory for a few moments!
Now the record for the pyramid was set a few years back by 5 guys from my generation. It was a 5 man pyramid (Benson's dad was one of the guys who climbed to the top!) . . . . So these kids decide they have to try and keep up with the dads!
After many tries they got this close!
And then this is what happened!
Maybe next year kids!
