Kids

This is Sadie and her cousin Lauren after their dance recital yesterday. They were at the recital from 10:30 am until their second performance was over at 3:00. It was a long day but they were still ready to pose for some pictures at the end of the day. I was disappointed that I couldn't get any pictures of them in their actual costumes because they were really cute but they wouldn't let us back stage to see them. Sadie was born to dance on stage. I asked her if she was nervous to dance in front of all those people and she said "No way - it was sooo fun!" She did a great job and of course was the best dancer on the stage!

A little family update just for fun. Sadie won the wackiest hair contest at school on Friday! I actually think she looked kind of cute!
The newest sport in the Weston home is log rolling/jumping over your siblings. The object of the game is to roll down the hill (while a few people jump over you and hopefully don't land on you). After you have jumped over your siblings you hurray and roll down the hill as fast as you can before they can get up to jump over you. It is hilarious to watch the kids do this! We are kind of out of practise this week because of all the rain but when it stops the grass should be nice and green and soft for log rolling!

Jordan's newest favorite thing to do is read the newspaper. He gets the paper every morning so he can browse through the flyers. He especially loves the Toys R Us and the Walmart flyers! He can always point out many things he weaally weaaally wants! "We should get this for my birthday mom" is the most famous comment out of his mouth these days.

Today Darcy's company had a private showing of the Chronicles of Narnia - Prince Caspian movie. It was a great movie and Carson and Kailey really enjoyed it. Jordan and Sadie got a little bit bored with it and kept asking us when it was going to be over.

What the . . . .

Have you ever seen a squash racquette and squash ball this big?? Darcy was playing in his club championship squash tournament last weekend and the boys had gone down to watch him play. Darcy actually found out the previous Monday that he had a stress fracture in his arm and the doctor wanted to cast it but Darcy said "No, I have an important tournament to play in!" Silly boy! So he played the squash tournament with a broken arm and now needs to take a lot of time off in order for his arm to heal. Oh, but he just remember that softball season starts this week. No more sports until the arm heals honey! (Not that I can tell him what to do or what not to do:))

Spring or Winter?

Which one of these things does not belong here? Tell me which one! Is it spring or is it winter? Jordan is a little confused about what season it really is. I keep asking myself the same question. One day we are out riding our bikes with no coats on at 7:30 in the evening (20 degree weather) and two days later we have a foot of snow in our yard and it is -15 outside. What is with this weather? Darcy spent one evening getting the kids bikes are geared up to ride. We took the dog for a walk while the kids tried out their bikes. It was a beautiful evening - and then the snow came and kept coming. We don't know if we will ever see spring weather let alone summer weather.

April Snow Showers

April Snow Showers

Yes this picture was taken today - April 10, 2008. After spending the last few days raking the lawn and playing outside in the backyard, we woke up to about a foot of heavy thick wet snow. The older kids were all groaning and complaining about it. It took us 45 minutes to get the kids to school (it usually only takes about 12 minutes). When we got home Jordan wanted to build a snowman and since it was such perfect snowman making snow I couldn't say no. We went outside and started building a snow giant! Jordan wanted a white snowman, not one with grass on it so we used all the snow from the driveway to build this one. Even after we finished building the snowman it still took me about 15 or 20 minutes to finish shoveling the driveway. Jordan was proud of his snow giant. At least somebody enjoys snow in April!

Crazy Sleeper

So Darcy and I went up to bed last night and I burst out laughing as I passed Sadie's room! This is how she was sleeping - if you can believe it. She was fast asleep and it didn't even bother her that all of her blood was running to her head! When I showed her the picture in the morning she wouldn't believe that she was actually sleeping like that. She said "Mom I know you put me like that just to take my picture!" Why would I do that to you Sadie?? Kids are truly amazing with some of the things they do while they are sleeping.
