Family Update
Family update!
Kailey came in third at Provincials. Her team played well thanks to a great coach! More importantly, they had a lot of fun! Kailey is sad that basketball season is over but is looking forward to some summer camps perhaps.
Carson turned the big 12 on March 23! I can't believe I have an "almost teenager"! He had a great time at grade 6 camp last week and didn't even miss his mom for 4 whole nights in a row! I have to say I missed him but I did enjoy how quiet the house was while he was gone.
Sadie turned 7 and had a really fun cupcake birthday party. She planned all the activities herself and boy can she plan a party! She must take after her dad or something :)
Jordan and I are both looking forward to spring finally being here! He can't wait to start playing soccer and I can't wait to start playing in the dirt in the backyard (gardening). It is so nice to finally be able to see the pavement on our street! We haven't seen it since the first part of December!
Darcy is counting the days until golf season starts. Who knows when it will be this year but he is ready to dust off the clubs and head out to the driving range!
My highlight of the week was getting our big blue recycle bin! I am so excited to have a place to store my recycling all week without it being inside my house. Better than that I don't have to make those trips to the community recycling bins in the freezing cold any more and I can recycle so many more items that the community drop offs didn't accept! Yeah for city wide recycling!

Provincials Here We Come!
Couldn't be more proud of Kailey and Darcy. Darcy coached Kailey's team this year and wow did they ever do a great job! They won the silver medal last weekend and so now they have a spot in Provincials which will be played in two weeks here in Calgary. We are really excited about it!
We can't forget our number one fans on the side lines! Sadie gets tired of going to school every Monday and her teacher wants them to write in their journals about what they did during the weekend. All she has to write about is watching basketball games. (Between Carson and Kailey both playing ball that is about what we do all weekend every weekend. I guess there are worse things we could be doing!)

Mexico
We took a last minute family trip to Cancun Mexico the first week in February. We had a great time although it was really windy the whole time we were there. We never felt REALLY HOT but still managed to catch some sun tans. The first thing the kids did was jump in the pool and swim up to the bar to order up some drinks. Shirley Temples and Pinia Coladas all day long - doesn't get any better than that does it? Even Jordan would walk over to the bar and order up his own drink whenever he wanted. Sometimes we would turn around and he'd be marching back from the bar with a drink in each hand. The bar tender got to know our kids pretty good and as soon as he would see them coming he'd start mixing up their favorite drink for them. They didn't even have to tell him what kind of drink they wanted. They loved the buffet of food and probably ate way too many french fries from the snack shack but they had a great time.
The salty ocean water took some getting used to for the kids but they enjoyed jumping the waves. Kaileyd hated getting salt water in her mouth. Carson just LOVED the ocean waves and couldn't get enough of them. It was a red flag day everyday so Sadie and Jordan didn't spend a lot of time in the ocean water unless Darcy or I were with them helping them jump the waves.
One day we had an Iguana sun bathing himself right between our lounge chairs. He pretty much stayed there all day and Jordan decided he better go get some food for him. We tried to feed him some fruit but he just ignored it. At first the girls wouldn't sit in any of the chairs close to the Iguana but pretty soon they got used to him just sitting there with them.
Mid week we went snorkeling, swimming with a shark, and to see the sea turtles. The kids loved the sea turtles and have decided that it would be fun to have one for a pet. (probably not!)
The first day we were there Jordan didn't put his swimming suit on right away and so he ended up getting his shorts wet in the ocean waves. I was walking back to the hotel room with him to get him changed and he was embarrased that he was walking around in his underwear. I told him that nobody cared. A minute later an older man started walking in front of us and he was wearing a green striped speedo swim suit. Jordan looks up and says really loud "Hey look mom, that guy is wearing his underwear too!" I laughed so hard!
It was fun vacation and now we are home to the cold in Calgary.
