After a crazy fall and winter coaching lots and lots of basketball and spending most of our time in gyms watching game after game (volleyball and basketball) we needed a family vacation to relax and spend some quality time together before our spring sports started. We caught a flight to the happiest place on earth (in Florida). The only problem was that it was not the happiest place on earth that week!
We couldn't have chosen a worse week to go to Disney World. I think the whole world was on spring break and they were all at Disney World! There were so many people from Britain, England and that side of the world as well as the entire state of Florida was on spring break. There were SO many people and so many line ups we got pretty sick of it pretty fast. Not to mention it was quite cold. We wore hoodies most of the day and it was still chilli. We were freezing at night even with pants on. Not the weather we had planned on for our Disney vacation.
After our first day Sadie's hip started to really bother her (she has been having some hip problems with her dancing and has gone to physiotherapy, had x-rays, ices and heats it a lot etc). We ended up with a wheel chair for her to ride in because she couldn't keep up with us as she hobbled around. Jordan liked the wheelchair too. We even thought it might help us get on some of the rides faster (but most rides it didn't). In fact sometimes the wheelchair line was slower. At least they could sit instead of stand while we were waiting in the line ups.
At Animal Kingdom Sadie got chosen to be in the Lion King show. It was hilarious. She got asked to make the sound of a giraffe. Do you know what kind of sound a giraffe makes? We didn't and neither did Sadie. She just made this grunting noise and we burst out laughing. After she was totally embarrassed she had a good time dancing with all the characters from Lion King. (This was on day one before her hip started really bothering her!)
Getting a spot to watch a parade was nearly impossible and not worth the effort. One day we went 1.5 hours before the parade started to some nice benches along the parade route. We ate our lunch and then Sadie and I were going to kick back and relax to wait for the parade. Half hour before the parade started we got booted out of the seats because they were VIP only (whoever Disney VIP people are). I was so mad because of course we had been waiting there for over an hour and at that point all the other places along the parade route were taken! When I looked over at the benches during the parade they were not even half full! Gggrrrrrr!
I think it is crazy how one of the favourite rides is still the autotopia where you drive the cars on a track and they don't even go very fast! Carson got his real driver's licence 2 days before we left on this vacation and so he figured he was the best driver out of the kids on this ride.

Carson's car broke down and the worker had to push him back to the start. Look at the traffic he held up because his car wouldn't work! hahahahaha
He was good and embarrassed after being so sure of himself!
Of course Jordan loved being able to drive these cars by himself.
I think he could even reach the pedals without Daddy's help!
The only character we got a picture with was the Little Mermaid! This was at about 11:00 at night when the line up had died down to meet her in her Grotto. Sadie didn't really care one way or the other if she met Little Mermaid but when the lineup was only 10 minutes (after being 2 hours long during the day) she decided what the heck! I guess my kids are officially done with the Disney Magic as they didn't care about seeing any characters.
Despite all the people, the long line ups, and cold weather, we did make some good family memories, had some good laughs at each other, and left with sore feet. Good bye Disney World and Hello Royal Caribbean Cruise! Now it was time to really relax and be spoiled!
